Chili Tasting: $15 Includes chili & 2 Beer tickets
If chili is your thing, put on your apron and enter our chili cookoff. Or if you are more of a taster, bring your taste buds ready to sample chili cooled off with local brews. A local artist will have handmade ceramic bowls to purchase. Cooks from all over the Midwest, as well as locals, will show off their talent by cooking from scratch, on-site at cook stoves, then presenting to a panel of judges. Public tasting starts at 1:30 and goes until the chili runs out. The public will help to judge the “People’s Choice Award", which is the most popular vote for chili. Awards presented at 2:30pm.
Chili Entry Fee: $20
Call Theresa by January 6 at 815-770-2668 to enter your chili. Entries after January 7 are $30 if there is space.
Interested in entering a chili? There are some specific guidelines
for a CASI cook-off including
• Chili must be prepared from scratch, in the open and on-site at the cook-off. No marinating and no complete commercial chili mixes allowed.
• No fillers are permitted, such as beans, macaroni, rice, hominy, or other similar ingredients.
• Chili will be judged by a panel of judges by submitting a “judging cup” sample from your pot. Then the rest of your pot will be judged by the public
